The season for ghosties, ghoulies and things that go bang! We know pets and their owners dread this time of year and understandably so.
Halloween & Fireworks nights are fast approaching, so if you and your pets aren't fans of loud bangs and spooky goings on, here at Feedability we have put together some top tips to help you get through Halloween and Bonfire night.
Make sure your furry friend has a safe space or place that they can go and hide. Lots of extra cosy, snuggly blankets to cover over their crate or bed for them to snuggle and burrow away in. Make their beds into dens and keep them well away from doors and windows to limit the noise and lights that can upset and affect them.
As tempting as it is and as cute as they can look, don’t force your pet to wear fancy dress if they really don’t want to. Your pug in a pumpkin may make a cute picture but the stress and trauma this can cause isn’t fair on them.
Where possible take your pooches for their walkies before it gets dark. Long walks equals tired pups, so they will be more likely to sleep through the noise. We understand the nights are getting darker quicker and walks after work aren't always possible, so why not check out your local dog walkers. Lots of them offer pet visits too so they can let your cats out and give your pets some love and fuss whilst you're at work so you can relax when you get home from a long day at the office.
Don’t leave your pets alone in the garden. If Brucey needs a wee, head out there with him!
Get cosy indoors and turn up your TV’s for movie night! Crank the volume up a bit more than usual to help drown out some of the unwanted noise. If you don’t do Halloween, why not watch in darkness to set the movie mood and deter those trick or treaters!
